Twilight screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg isn’t the only one who thinks hunky Channing Tatum would have been perfect to play Riley in Eclipse.
The G.I. Joe star’s wife, Jenna Dewan, says director David Slade should have let hm sink his teeth into the role.
“I totally tried to get him to do it,” Dewan told us earlier this week at the InStyle Summer Soirée at the London Hotel in West Hollywood. “I was like, ‘Baby, do Twilight!’ Oh, my god. I’m a huge Twilight fan. I’ve read all the books. So I was like, ‘You should do it, you should do it, you should do it!’”
Unfortunately for Jenna, Xavier Samuel snagged the part of the corrupted vampire in the third installment of the Robert Pattinson bloodsucker movie franchise.
While Dewan says Tatum hasn’t read any of Stephenie Meyer‘s Twilight books, she’s a huge fan…
“I just saw the trailer for [New Moon] today,” she said. “It’s one of those things where I liked the books so much, I felt like a 10-year-old reading them. I finished them in like three days.”
Eclipse or no Eclipse, it seems the newlyweds are more about work right now than starting a family. Dewan is about to start shooting a two-episode stint as a film executive on the CW’s new Melrose Place, while Tatum just wrapped Dear John and has at least three more flicks in the works.
“Ask me in a couple years,” Jenna said about having babies. “We do want them, just not right now. If I have three, if I have 10—I just want them to be happy and healthy kids.”

A CW rep confirms that Jenna, who starred in Step Up with Channing, will play a movie executive who is interested in Jonah Miller (Michael Rady), an aspiring filmmaker. She is set to appear in two or more episodes. They are filming scenes on a yacht this Thursday and Friday.
Melrose Place premieres Sept. 8 at 9 p.m. on the CW.

Former X-Men artist, Image co-founder and Top Cow CEO Marc Silvestri seems to have found a new niche in Hollywood production. The “Wanted” executive producer will repeat that role on his company’s next movie adaptation “Magdalena” with newly announced director Ryûhei Kitamura.Valhalla Motion Pictures and Platinum Studios signed Kitamura, who most recently directed Clive Barker’s “Midnight Meat Train.” Also new to the “Magdalena” team is “The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations” writer Holly Brix. Silverstri’s production team for the religious history-inspired action tale includes Gale Anne Hurd of “Terminator 2,” Platinum Studios head Scott Mitchell Rosenberg and Top Cow president Matt Hawkins, according to Variety.
The movie, slated to star Jenna Dewan and Luke Goss, follows Top Cow’s original title character, a descendant from Jesus Christ’s bloodline via Mary Magdalene. Endowed with the ability to look into human hearts and show evil-doers the errors of their ways, Magdalena uses her powers to protect the Roman Catholic Church.
Spun out of Top Cow’s long-running series “The Darkness,” “Magdalena” is one of the publisher’s oldest properties without its own ongoing title. If they can use it to replicate the success of “Wanted,” which grossed over $130 million domestically, it could be a property ripe for resurrection.
