Channing Tatum towels off after being showered with rain as during a scene for his upcoming drama The Vow alongside co-star Rachel McAdams on Tuesday (August 31) in Toronto, Canada.

It was recently announced that Underworld actor Scott Speedman joined the cast of The Vow.

The film is based on a true story of two newlyweds (Channing and Rachel) who get into a car accident two months after their wedding. The wife goes into a coma and when she wakes up, she remembers everyone but her husband.

A new generation of talent is getting ready to tackle the high school reunion movie.

Channing Tatum is working with Jamie Linden and producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey of Temple Hill on “Ten Year,” an ensemble drama about friends reuniting a decade after their graduation.

Linden, who wrote “We Are Marshall,” is penning the script and will direct. He also wrote “Dear John,” which starred Tatum and was based on a Nicholas Sparks novel.

Tatum has been heavily involved in the development process. He also will star and join Temple Hill in producing the film with his 33andOut Prods. partner Reid Carolin.

The script is being written with specific actors in mind, with a partial list including Tatum’s wife, Jenna Dewan (“Step Up”); pals Anna Faris and her husband, Chris Pratt; Chris Pine; and Scott Porter (“Friday Night Lights”).

There are no deals in place for the actors, and involvement will depend on availability. The indie production also is assembling financing, though the filmmakers are hoping to begin shooting in November.

Tatum, repped by UTA and Management 360, is shooting “The Vow” with Rachel McAdams in Toronto.

The Wrap is reporting that G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra director Stephen Sommers is coming back to direct the as yet Untitled G.I. Joe Sequel. At first there was some speculation that Sommers might not be brought back, as there had been some internet scuttlebutt “that there had been some tension between Sommers and the studio,” but any problems between the two seems to have been resolved. It is expected that Channing Tatum will return as Captain Duke Hauser in the sequel, which is presently in development at Paramount. Plot wise, all that is known right now is that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland) were tapped to write the sequel. Apparently, the studio is happy with the draft they turned in. Sommers is likely going to produce with Lorenzo di Bonaventura. G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra pulled in more than $300 million worldwide last year. Untitled G.I. Joe Sequel comes to theaters in 2012. The film is directed by Stephen Sommers.

“Ion” actually made the rounds last year but didn’t take. In the post-”Avatar” Hollywood, however, the script is generating renewed interest. It attracted the interest of the Scott brothers, who helped develop the script further, which then brought in UTA/Management 360-repped Tatum, who could be one of Hollywood’s next leading men. The whole package raised the mercury even higher.

We’re being told that Channing Tatum (Fighting, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Public Enemies) has been cast in The Pang Brothers’ (The Eye) latest genre effort, The Darkness. Based on the on the Garth Ennis (“Preacher”) David Wohl and Mark Silvestri comic, on the eve of his 21st birthday, Jackie was targeted for assassination by the don of the New York mafia, “Uncle” Paulie. He finds his body possessed by “the Darkness” , a malevolent spirit that has inhabited his family for several generations, with the benefit of giving Jackie supernatural powers that feeds off the dark.

Forget that other little movie that Channing Tatum has in the works; the Stop-Loss actor has a far more intriguing project out, right now!

Tatum has teamed up with performance artist Charlyne Yi to produce a spoof of the 1987 classic Dirty Dancing.

“I’m scared of being put in the corner, Johnny, and most of all I’m scared of walking out of here and never feeling my whole life the way I feel when I’m with you,” Yi over-dramatizes in the campy send-up, assuming the role of Frances “Baby” Houseman, immortalized by Jennifer Grey.

And hey, even if the particular style of humor isn’t your cup of tea, at least Channing is shirtless throughout the video.

Channing stars in the Patrick Swayze role alongside “Paper Heart” actress Charlyne Yi, who shimmies into Jennifer Grey’s part as Frances “Baby” Houseman. The spoof is part of Mean magazine’s Cinemash project which casts today’s stars in some of yesterday’s most memorable roles. (Read our first Cinemash post about Channing here.)

“Dirty Dancing” premieres next Tuesday (July 28) on MSN and will be available for download through Microsoft’s Zune. In the meantime, you can watch previous parodies, including “(500) Days of Summer” stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel as the notorious Sid and Nancy. (If you’ve seen “(500) Days” you’ll understand the reference.)
